A technical editor in education prepares a finished learning resource for the place it is going. The work is form: applying the template, numbering figures and tables, repairing cross-references, rebuilding the table of contents, keying the index to final pages, tagging the file, and writing its accessibility metadata. What comes out is a package that meets a print spec, a store, or a standard. Work arrives from authors, compilers, copy editors, and reviewers; the conformed file goes on to a checking pass. This trade makes the work fit its destination.
