visual-art:muralist
Made a large work directly on a wall or surface.
A muralist makes a large work directly on a wall or other building surface. The artist designs the image at full scale, transfers it onto the prepared wall, and paints it out, so a new public artwork stands where bare surface was before. The wall is commissioned and funded by a client, and an art director may set the theme it works toward; later a conservator keeps it and a gallerist shares its image. The muralist's distinct contribution is the painted wall itself, made by hand.
