Made images that depict or accompany a subject.

An illustrator makes images that depict or accompany a subject. The work is applied, a picture built to communicate, often drawn in Procreate and finished in Photoshop and delivered at the correct resolution. Direction comes from an art director, funding from a commissioner, and the subject from the writer of the accompanying text. Once made, the image moves on to retouchers, printers, and galleries that ready and release it. What this trade adds is a new picture, made to carry its subject.
