visual-art:conservator
Preserved a work and stabilized it so it survives.
A conservator keeps a finished artwork stable so it survives over time. They examine the object, write a condition report, and treat it with careful cleaning, consolidating, housing, and control of light and humidity, recording each step in a permanent treatment report. The work reaches them from the maker, the registrar who tracks its location and condition, and the curator who requests it. They return it to documented storage or to the gallerist who puts it back in view. This keeping holds the work reachable for the years ahead.
