Captured the performances onto tracks.

A recording engineer captures a live performance and fixes it into recorded sound. Working in the session, this trade sets up the room, places the microphones, sets the levels, and builds the monitor mixes the players hear, then captures each take onto its own track. The performers bring the takes, the songwriter brings the song, and the producer sets the direction. The finished session passes to the mix engineer and then the mastering engineer. The recording engineer makes the captured tracks exist.
