music:conductor

Set the ensemble's interpretation and directed the performance.

A conductor leads an orchestra or other ensemble. Working from a written score, the conductor forms an interpretation and decides how the music will sound: its tempo, phrasing, balance, and character. In rehearsal these choices get refined out loud, and in performance the conductor guides the players with baton and gesture. The score comes from the composer and the orchestrator. The players and singers then perform the reading the conductor has shaped, giving an existing piece its particular voice.
