A visual effects supervisor guides how a film's unreal images are designed and built. Working from the director's intent, this person sets the look, the method, and the per-shot notes that artists follow, turning a vision into a workable plan. Direction arrives from the director and production designer, camera plates from the cinematographer, and timing from the editor. Visual effects artists, compositors, and matte painters then build the shots to that guidance. Through this, the imagined parts of a film take shape.
