Corrected grammar, style, and house format before publication.

An academic copyeditor takes an accepted manuscript and corrects it to the journal or press standard. The work fixes grammar, spelling, and punctuation, settles terminology and abbreviations into one consistent form, and aligns each citation with the required style. The copyeditor receives the paper after the authors write it and an editor accepts it, then hands the corrected manuscript to the production editor for typesetting and layout. What this pass adds is a text made correct and consistent down to its smallest detail.
